Volunteering at Deaf Children's Society

We receive a large number of requests from people who wish to volunteer at Deaf Children's Society.  Deaf children attend DCS programs to be exposed to fluent visual language models.  Those who would like to volunteer at DCS "to practice their ASL skills" misunderstand the purpose of the programs we offer.

DCS will welcome inquiries about how to become fluent in ASL, how to become a qualified Early Childhood Educator, and other such queries, but we cannot offer volunteer positions in our preschool or other programs.

We do not seek volunteers for established programs. Special events are usually run by the staff and only occasionally will we have volunteers- and those volunteers are known to DCS via accredited internship programs or the Deaf community.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering, but unfortunately, unless you are a fluent ASL signer and have credentials that match our programs, it is unlikely that you will receive a response if you email to ask about opportunities to volunteer.
