Our DCS preschool students develop language and communication skills on par with their hearing peers... so much that they evidence turn taking, problem solving, and discussion of marriage when they are 4 and 5! The video shows it all (captioned).

Picnic in the Park Photos

The sky was cloudy and rain was lurking, but the sun came out for a little while to shine on the Picnic in the Park to kick off the celebrations for DCS's 30 years of providing exemplary services to families and children.

CARF Re-accreditation

The Deaf Children's Society of BC recently received new 3-year accreditation from CARF.

CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) had this to say about DCS.

Thank you!

Over the past weekend, I had the pleasure to attend a small but very entertaining fundraising event for DCS hosted by long-time friends of the agency.

I would like to say a heartfelt THANK YOU! to all the attendees and the hosts... you were very generous and kind, and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting new and old friends, catching up on news, and seeing how supportive the Deaf community is of DCS.

Rest assured that your donations will be put to good use, to ensure that our community continues to grow and thrive...

Grace Szakun

The Deaf Children's Society of BC would like to extend its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and students past and present of Grace Szakun, a dear friend and teacher, who contributed so much to the Deaf community.  She was funny, witty and wise, loved life, and gave happily and generously to all. Grace will always be remembered as a friend and great supporter of DCS.

Grace, we will carry you in our hearts forever.
